Hi from Glenwood Springs, Colorado! I am on vacation this week with my family, with my co-author Zoë Rom's wedding on Saturday! Speaking of Zoë, last year she launched a new podcast with another friend, dietitian Kylee Van Horn, called Your Diet Sucks. It is one of my absolute favorite podcasts (and Instagram follows, actually, really hilarious and fun content; you will see why I love Zoë so much!) The podcast itself breaks down all the fads, trends, and things we hear about how to eat, fuel, and take care of our bodies, but mostly, it is a healing tool (that is really, really funny!) to untangle your relationship with food. I highly recommend a listen; you can find it on Spotify here and iTunes here. I'll keep this short, BUT, the sections below are longer than usual as I created a lot of impactful content that I am really proud of while I was in Chicago for the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 last weekend, and some of it is going to inspire you in a way that reminds you there is good in the world. This is the view out my window, so beautiful: I'm gonna go enjoy. There isn't a much better noise than the sound of rushing water. I drove through Forest Park in St. Louis last week, and it was devastating to see the trees down. I heard that 30% of the trees in that park (there were 47,000) are down or severely damaged. If you have any ability to donate to Forest Park Forever to help them heal the park, that would be appreciated.
If that feels too impersonal, our goal at Racing For Sustainability is to do our part to get the running world to prioritize sustainability and climate. You can support us to help us build towards our goal of creating a place where runners can find sustainable races near them.
Things I shared on my social media over the last few days:
“Nature and truth are one, and immutable, and inseparable as beauty and love.” ― Anna Brownell Jameson Thanks to our partner, AG1You better believe my AG1 is here with me on this trip! I love that the travel packs are in a much more convenient package now (the squares were not my fave!). AG1ʼs Next Gen is now one of the most clinically backed greens powders. They went above & beyond the industry standard in testing, and have made a great product even better! I have been enjoying my AG1 for almost six years now, and I truly can't imagine my life without it. Especially in periods like this when I am traveling, it fills in the nutrient gaps, so no matter what I eat, I know I am taking care of my body. If you use my link, you’ll also get a FREE bottle of AG D3K2, an AG1 Welcome Kit, AND 5 of the upgraded AG1 travel packs with your first order.

Hi from Olympic Valley, California, where we are a few days away from the 2025 Western States 100 mile race. When I used to interview ultra runners on Running For Real, I kinda saw it as this far-removed, distant sport that I didn't so much feel connected to, but admired from afar. Kinda a "Wow, thats cool; good for you...not for me." As you likely know, those times have changed. I would put myself in the trail runner bucket. Trail running was always in there, just hibernating. My early cross...
Monday through Wednesday this week, I attended Race Management Program, an annual conference for race organizers to learn from one another and hear what they should be prioritizing in the years to come. A few months ago, the COO for Chicago Event Management (which puts on the Bank of America Chicago Marathon), Mike Nishi, emailed me, asking if I was going to attend. To which I said, no. A few weeks later, he invited me to lead a "warmup session," a workshop the day before the event began. I...
Last week I went to Zoë's wedding. It was beautiful. That said, it wasn't exactly what I had envisioned the day to be. A few days prior, Chloe started not feeling well: headache, lethargy, fever, generally out of it. That continued onto wedding day, when we concluded it was altitude sickness. We rested her up, hoping she and Steve could go for an hour or so. I went to the ceremony alone and then went back to get them for the reception... Chloe was not well enough, so Bailey and I got in the...
