Tomorrow is race day. Tillamook Burn 55K. In many ways, the complete opposite of my last goal race (a technical 100k in Cape Town). This race is suited to my strengths, and I am feeling fit. So instead of the usual this week: YouTube. Other than my RED-S series to support runners spiraling down the underfueling hole I was trapped in for many years, I have not put much on my YouTube channel, definitely not about my journey. So let's change that. Why this race? Where is my head at? How did I get here? How did I train for this? All of it.
Except maybe when Justin (my amazing video guy), asked me what shoes I was wearing tomorrow, to which I replied, "Uhhh, the On something? I don't know their name." To say I am not a gear (or shoe) nerd is an understatement! We cut that part out ;) Go watch it, then subscribe if you enjoyed. There may well be more of these ahead. “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” —T.S. Eliot -- Thanks to our partner, AG1I think it's clear these past few months have been a lot, of everything. Of juggling, and yes, as I shared in the video, of not getting it right all the time. My nutrition has always been something I fall short in. In my past it was not eating enough, now it is reaching for the foods that I know are not as nutritionally dense as would be good for my intense training, but are easy and simple. That's why I love relying on AG1 to fill in my nutritional gaps when tiredness gets the better of me. I have been drinking AG1 for over six years, and I love the insurance policy (or that's how I view it) it brings to my life. With 75+ ingredients, including 5 clinically-studied probiotic strains, AG1 replaces the need for a multivitamin, probiotics, and more. US, UK, Europe, and Canadian friends, you can get an AG1 Flavor Sampler and a bottle of Vitamin D3+K2 FREE in your Welcome Kit with your first AG1 subscription (a $72 value!).

Oh, do I have a story for you. I had wrestled with whether to share it, as it is kinda embarrassing, deeply personal, and I am choosing to share because I am proud of the choice I made. Dare I say, thankful that it happened? It contrasts with how differently I would have handled this situation in the past, and how differently it could have ended if I made the other choice. It is a long story, but one that every person I have shared it with has giggled with delight (and maybe relief!) in...
People often say that having children is like having a part of your heart walking around outside your body. I have said that before (and it’s true). What I haven’t heard talked about, is the experience of someone you love pushing themselves to the very edge of their limit, and your heart racing the entire time. It means so much to them; it means so much to you. But you also hate it a little. It’s stressful, and a rush. I felt every minute of that course record-smashing, 3rd place, 13 hours...
Well, hello. It's been a month to the day since my last newsletter, and as usual for my summer trip to the UK, I had every intention of writing these, but it just did not happen. I have a lot of catching up to do, and a lot to update you on, including the fact that I had to be resuced off a mountain a few weeks ago. That is a story for another day ;) For now, there is something else: May 16, 2026. The last newsletter was sent the day before my spring goal race, the Tillamook Burn 55K. I...
